Blending into the bustling and culturally diverse southern district of Apgujung, La Colombe/Seoul follows the design of our Dilworth Plaza café in Philadelphia: sleek and airy with sweeping bamboo and serpentinite (also known as “rainforest marble”) coffee bar and small tables with burled wood tops, finished to look like river stone.

In addition to introducing one of America’s premier artisan coffee roasters to Seoul, La Colombe Korea will offer home-made pastries and hand-crafted sandwiches to its patrons in the local style, and that’s all day.

About the t-shirt graphic:
Conceived by our Dilworth Plaza cafe manager Gus Laessig, the graphic is an interpretation of the famous LOVE sculpture by American artist Robert Indiana. A version of the sculpture overlooks Love Park, just across the plaza from the cafe. The design is a tribute to this Philadelphia icon combined with the french translation of La Colombe, “The Dove”.

We were at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to celebrate the opening of Zoe Strauss’ retrospective exhibition. You can see our to-go cup enjoying the party in the slideshow. The show is on view through April 22.

Jennifer Bolande’s Landmarks as well as Living Document / Naked Reality: Towards an Archival Cinema presented by the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at the University of Pennsylvania opened last Wednesday and La Colombe was there at the reception.

You can see Jennifer Bolande’s work through March 11 and Living Document / Naked Reality through March 4. There are also screenings at the International House as an extension of this exhibition.
